The crumbs we leave in your browser

Cookie Policy

What cookies this site uses, why they exist, and how to make them go away. Short version: far fewer than most websites. Last updated September 2026.

01 / Basics

What a cookie even is

A cookie is a tiny text file your browser saves so a website can remember something — like whether you’ve already seen a banner. They can’t run programs, read your files, or follow you home. They’re notes, not spies.

This site runs on a handful of them. Some keep things working, some tell us which pages guests actually read. None of them sell you to anyone — see the privacy policy for the bigger picture.

02 / The list

Cookies we actually set

cookie_choice
Remembers your accept/decline on the banner · 12 months · essential
session_prefs
Keeps form fields from vanishing mid-typing · session only · essential
_ga, _ga_*
Anonymous visit stats — which pages, how long · 13 months · analytics
ajs_*
Animation preferences for smoother scrolling effects · session · functional

Essential cookies run the site and don’t need consent. Analytics ones only activate if you hit “Accept” on the banner — decline and nothing extra loads.

03 / Outsiders

Third-party cookies

A few cookies come from services we embed rather than from us:

  • Google Maps — the map on our contacts page sets location prefs owned by Google
  • Google Fonts — serves our typefaces; may log standard request data
  • CDN providers — Bootstrap and icon libraries load from public CDNs

Each of those plays by its own privacy policy — links to them sit at reception if you want the bedtime reading.

Turning them off

On this site

The banner on our homepage accepts or declines analytics cookies. Declined? We remember that too — in one essential cookie.

In your browser

Every browser lets you block or delete cookies entirely — the site still works, the banner will just ask again next visit.
